Mayor David West said while the usual Australia Day awards had been suspended for this year's event, it would still be a special day.
"We wouldn't be as rich as we are today without all the people who have come from all over the world and made the decision to call Australia home, we are all better for the diversity and culture they have brought with them," Cr West said.
"We're just as proud to welcome these new citizens to the best country in the world, as they are to officially join us and I'm looking forward to being able to do just that tomorrow."
The official Australia Day citizenship ceremony will take place at Club Taree and numbers of attendees are limited by the public health order requirements currently in place.
"It's a shame that we aren't able to mark Australia Day in the same we usually do and the cancellation of the Saltwater Freshwater Festival is a great loss for our community, but I'm glad we can still celebrate the day this way.
"We're hopeful that next year we can host the celebrations for the region again," Cr West said.
